Whose Blood?

Hyfidelik has been a performing artist in Ottawa for over 8 years. The art of words has taken him all over Canada as well as his native lands of Central America. In Ottawa, aligned with his artistic development he has trained through experience to be a poet, hip hop MC, an educator, an activist, a business owner and community organizer. His beginning as a high school student with the hip hop trio “Fonetiks” saw the release of his first album titled, “The Sky is Falling” selling over 1000 copies independently. He then joined the 16 member band, “The Presswon Collective” as a dub vocalist, successfully touring eastern Canada and the release of an album, “Live At Babylon”. In 2008, he released his debut full length hip hop/dub poetry album titled “From Anger with Love”, selling 500 albums in his community. He joined a collective of all-star poets called “The Young Griot Collective” (alongside FreeWill, Nathaniel Larochette, Mehdi Handad, Nina Nyiringango) and performed several high profile shows. In 2010 he was member of the Urban Legends Team representing Ottawa at the National Festival of Spoken Word where they placed 2nd nationally. As an co-founder/owner of artistic hub cooperative business, Umi CafĂ©, he has established himself as an organizer in the global artistic community, making space for local artists and touring performers, helping define the arts in the Nation’s Capital as one with a unique and lucrative scene. Hyfidelik continues to perform regularly, as well as being co- director of the Urban Legends Poetry Slam for the 2010-11 season.

All superficial things aside -I'm becoming the best Servant of God that I can become. That is more important than accolades or resumes.
